You may reach for the stars in the midnight sky
Or shoot for the moon in your quest to fly
You may dream of a heaven somewhere way up high
But remember your limits – I’ll tell you why:
Limits are lessons that teach us to grow
They test us and rest us until we let go
Limits are puzzles to ponder and chew
They bind us and grind us into something new
You may curse every shackle that keeps you Earth bound
Or blame your bad luck for each treasure not found
You may slam every blockade that gets in your way
But remember your limits – hear what I say:
Limits are dumbbells that strengthen your arm
They strain us and train us to keep us from harm
Limits are forces like wind in our sail
They grasp us and task us to learn how to fail
You may reach for the stars and shoot for the moon
Or dream any wish that you hope will come true
Yet each note’s a limit that makes up the tune
And in life’s great mystery, each limit’s a clue.
