The thing to know, in life’s to and fro –
With its tidal swings of ebb and flow
With its over-draught and under-tow –
Is that we grow through each high and low
The thing to see, in life’s branching tree –
With its roots and shoots, all wild and free
With its blues and clues, its mystery –
Is that we dream and learn how to be
The thing to try, in life’s endless sky –
With its clouds down low and sun up high
With its smiling moon and stars that sigh –
Is first to rise, believe you can fly
The thing to know, in life’s circus show –
With its ripes to walk and jokes we crow
With its plates to spin and knives we throw –
Is that we know that we must let go
