According to our mantras and our myths
We’re all spellbound by a captive notion
Woven from ancient tales and coded glyphs
We’re all searching for that magic potion
Some have called it the elixir of life
But they really mean youth’s crystal fountain
We dream of halcyon days without strife
And the desire to climb every mountain
We’re nostalgic for days that cannot last
But there’s a paradox that’s rather strange
For as we gaze back at the year gone past
The person we are seems not to have changed
Yes, we get old, but there’s nothing to hide
For no matter what song of life we’ve sung
No matter how we change on the outside
Inside, we’ll always be forever young
