Keys to the Maze

    Faith: in Memoriam

    2006

I never will forget the day
My faith in people passed away -

I loved her true, I thought she cared
Yet innocence could not be spared
    For fairytales of simple truth
Are fantasies spun for the youth

She did not stop to count the cost
Of what was gained and what was lost
She took in hand deception’s knife
And made the choice to take a life

Her aim was sure, the cut was deep
(No mercy when the past is cheap)
No armour worn, my heart-wound bled
Until my trusting self was dead

It does not help to mourn or cry
Some things can live and some must die
For naïve hope there is no place
And love can leave without a trace -

But I never will forget the day
My faith in people passed away
